“Marwan’s Departure from GTST: Storyline, Relationships, and Possibility of Return”

Stanley is recently offered a job as a singer on a cruise ship. As a carer and his personal assistant, Marwan also likes that, but that causes frowned eyebrows. Demi (Noa Zwan) is initially not thrilled that her son’s father is leaving for so long. And then grandpa Henk (Johnny Kraaijkamp jr.) also gets involved.

Fortunately, all parties are involved. It had to be, because it was already clear that Marwan would leave Meerdijk confirmed by RTL. At their farewell party, Henk comes to apologize. “I think I have to say sorry. You’re a top dad and I’m an elderly busybody.”

Hassan was in september 2020 for the first time as Marwan El Amrani in GTST. Together with his little brother Ilyas (Hamza Othman) he settled in Meerdijk to help run their strict father’s neighborhood supermarket. Marwan especially turned the lives of the Verduyn family upside down when he accidentally impregnated the underage Demi, who told him she was eighteen.

Long story short: Demi and Marwan found a way to split the care of their son Tom. Less convenient was Marwan’s brief relationship with Demi’s sister Merel (Sophie Bouquet). And because of his involvement in the illegal trade in stolen diamonds with Julian Verduyn (Cas Jansen), Marwan was sentenced to community service.

The storylines of the sometimes reckless Marwan also focused several times on the difficult relationship with his father, who considered him an embarrassment to the family. Marwan stayed behind in Meerdijk when his father and little brother went back to Morocco and that did not help the relationship either. Will viewers ever see this come out right? Who knows. A return of Marwan does not seem to be definitively ruled out, as the cruise will in principle last several months.

GTST can be seen on RTL 4 from Monday to Thursday at 8 p.m. and can be viewed ahead at Videoland.

This year the soap goes earlier with summer break. The last episode of this season can be seen on Thursday 1 June. The makers promise ‘one of the most spectacular cliffhangers ever’.
