Martín Vizcarra called general elections for April 11, 2021

He president Martín Vizcarra This Wednesday called general elections for April 11, 2021, in which a new president, vice presidents, congressmen and representatives of Peru will be elected before the Andean Parliament.

The head of state signed the supreme decree calling for elections during a message to the country from the Government Palace and announced that it will be published tomorrow in the official newspaper El Peruano.

During his announcement, the president affirmed that Peru has already passed the times of “shocks about whether or not there would be democratic continuity” and that he committed himself since assuming the presidency to finish his mandate in the established time.

“Since I assumed the presidency due to the resignation of President (Pedro Pablo) Kuczynski from office, I have pledged to complete his mandate, to put all my effort to make it a frank, transparent, honest government in the hands of the people, but with a condition: that the mandate ended, that this democratic continuity with elections could not be altered by anything, “he said
