The cooperation between the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and the Viersen district was the focus of a visit by the new directly elected member of the Bundestag for the Viersen district, Martin Plum, to the President of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Thomas Grünewald at their Krefeld Süd campus.

“The entire region benefits from the locations of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, including and especially the district of Viersen,” explained Martin Plum. “Many young people start their studies here, many companies develop projects together with the university and many graduates stay on-site as specialists after their studies.” most efficient universities for applied sciences in Germany. It was only in the summer of last year that the university concluded a cooperation agreement with the district of Viersen. The aim of this agreement is to promote the transfer of technology and knowledge between the university and regional and national companies and to develop joint projects for small and medium-sized companies. In addition, students are to be brought together for their Bachelor and Master theses as well as for internships with companies in the region. The exchange of knowledge and experience between the regional economy and the university is to be intensified through regular events.

“As a member of the Bundestag for the Viersen district, I am very happy to support this cooperation and the further development of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences,” emphasized Martin Plum. “I am therefore also very pleased that your President invited me to his home today and that we have agreed to continue our exchange in the next few years in the common interest of the university and the Viersen district.”
