Paul talks to the flamboyant Martien about the corona crisis in France, where you are no longer allowed to take to the streets after noon. Yet Martien keeps herself busy. There are still pleasure places at the Chateau that need his attention, such as the doors that need to be painted. “The world is not going to end (…) it is very natural, but yes,” he tells Paul with a deep breath. He prefers wines and he is still fed up with that. “We can go two months ahead,” said the TV star.

Although the family is still in France, they have plans to move back to the Netherlands. To Hengelo to be precise. But what about housekeeper Nadège? “We hope that someone buys the Chateau and continues to run the company, so that she might be able to be sold along with the contents…. She would like that very much herself or else she will look for another job.”

The Meilandjes also live in uncertainty due to the coronaciris. For example, the reservations were stopped until May and daughter Montana had to close her store in the Netherlands. “I find it scary, in a shop they are right next to you with corona,” says Martien. “Then no money, you have built up a buffer this year.” More enterprising Dutch people are suffering from the crisis.
