Mariëlle Tweebeeke is celebrating her fiftieth birthday this year and notices that something is changing. The News hourpresenter says in conversation with VARAguide to feel that it makes her “more eager and hurried”.
“Especially in this crisis in which time passes so easily. I can hardly grasp it and before I know it I will be two months further without birthdays, parties, special things”, 49-year-old Tweebeeke said.
The presenter, who has now been with News hour says she is super privileged with her family and her job. “But still I notice that there are fewer highlights, there is less to celebrate. Then I look at photos to get a grip. I also make images of everything that is loose and stuck, of everyday things. They provide grip, tangibility, because I don’t want it to pass just like that. “
Fortunately, Tweebeeke is at her place in the journalistic program and now feels she has the best of both worlds. Still, she can imagine making an abrupt career switch one day. “I can also imagine something in politics. Certainly not now, but who knows someday. Politics and journalism are closely related because of social involvement.”
