Marechaussee finds record number of weapons in cars | Inland

Last year, no fewer than 252 weapons were stored in gloveboxes, under seats or in trunk, the AD writes. A year earlier there were 155, the year before 120. Criminals also appear to be increasingly inventive when hiding things in hidden spaces. The Marechaussee came across real masterpieces where they had to press a combination of buttons to open the hidden space in the back seat.

There is no clear explanation for the rising crime in the border region. It may have played a role that there was less traffic and that the chances of being caught for criminals increased considerably.
