Mexico City.- Marcelo Ebrardsecretary of External relationships (SRE), was awarded at the Annual Summit on Patient Safety, Science and Technologyfor his performance in the negotiations to obtain anticovid vaccines and hospital supplies for Mexico during the pandemic.
The humanitarian award Joe Kiani was delivered to Ebrard by the Patient Safety Movement Foundation at an event held in Newport Beach, California.
The chancellor recognized that it is “unusual to have a foreign secretary in a health and patient safety movement”, for which he thanked the award and asserted that the spread of Covid-19 was “a tragedy” world.
“We learned the hard way the importance of our countries taking their patient safety movement as a public policy, the idea of improving the quality of the entire Mexican health system to be prepared for the next pandemic.“, he pointed.
During the Covid-19 crisis, Mexico was the first Latin American country to get the vaccine. The first doses arrived on December 23, 2020 and the first phase of immunization began the next day.
