Marcello Quintanilha continues his harvest of trophies

After winning the prestigious Fauve d’Or at the 2022 edition of the Angoulême Festival, the Brazilian author was honored across the Atlantic at the Montreal BD Festival with the Foreign Bédélys Prize for Listen, Pretty Marciapublished by Here and There.

Listen, Pretty Marcia by Marcello Quintanilha thus succeeds the work Sabrina of Nick Drnaso (Presque Lune), which won this prize in 2019, during the last edition.

This year, it is therefore the reality of a young Brazilian who caught the attention of the jury of the Bédélys prize. Listen, Pretty Marcia is above all a social and family drama, a portrait of contemporary Brazilian society, but also a love story.

As Frédéric Hojlo pointed out in our columns: “Márcia struggles and fights with extraordinary strength. Generous, hard-working, courageous: she is a “powerful woman” who accepts obstacles in order to better overcome them. Stubborn but sensitive, she is capable of great sacrifices and demonstrates lucidity about the world around her. Marcello Quintanilha succeeds in a portrait of rare strength, touching by the personality it describes and fascinating by the reality it depicts.
