Many people from Liège want to be tested for the coronavirus: traffic jam at the drive-in screening service of the CHU

The Liège University Hospital offers drive-in screening for the coronavirus. This Monday, July 27, this service is taken by storm.

At the beginning of March, the Liège University Hospital took the initiative to offer Covid-19 screenings via a drive-in service. This was set up in an underground car park. Patients do not leave their vehicle and are thus separated from emergencies. To benefit from this test, they must present a medical prescription from their doctor.

This Monday, July 27, a particularly large number of patients presented themselves. Around 2 p.m., around fifty drivers lined up in their vehicle. “It’s the complete blockage”, indicates Louis Maraite, Communication Director of the CHU de Liège. “It never, never happens so much”, he adds. Our journalist Vincent Jamoulle also noted this influx on the spot.

On average, between 80 and 90 Covid-19 tests are carried out in this “depist-car” service. The week of July 13 to 19, 2,056 screenings were carried out, for 22 positive cases. The following week, 1669 screenings were performed, for 25 positive.
