Many iOS apps are crashing right now due to the Facebook SDK

Many iOS apps are experiencing an identical problem right now: they crash on startup, which is rather annoying. This is the case of Spotify, Waze, PUBG Mobile, Timepage, France Inter, Le Bon Coin, L’Équipe and others.

This problem is caused by the Facebook SDK built into these apps. Even if you haven’t installed the Facebook app on your iPhone, you are affected. This SDK is used by applications to connect their users via their Facebook credentials.

An identical planting epidemic had taken place in May (overnight in France), already because of the SDK de Facebook that had been misconfigured. It had lasted a few hours. The list of all applications using the Facebook SDK is available on App Sight. Note that these apps are not all victims of the bug, it must depend on the version of the SDK on board.

Facebook is aware of the problem and works to resolve it. A issue was opened on GitHub.
