Many employers compensate staff for increased costs | Economy

One in three employers provide extra financial support to their employees to alleviate possible purchasing power problems. This is in addition to salary and structural pay increases.

They do this despite the fact that many companies themselves also suffer from high energy prices and higher costs for raw materials, for example, reports the employers’ association AWVN. Employers estimate that nearly a quarter of employees are experiencing financial problems due to the cost crunch.

Of employers who provide extra support to their staff, 40% provide a one-off payment. In half of the cases it is a compensation of 500 euros or more. Many employers indicate that they intend to do it again.

In addition to a financial allowance, the companies also offer cheap coaches, a higher travel allowance or a salary increase. Staff can also choose to work longer hours or pay upfront for vacation days.

Furthermore, there are also employers who want to help employees in other ways. For example, with a contribution to making a house or a leased bicycle more sustainable so that fewer employees have to drive.
