This the Inspectorate SZW concludes after investigation, NRC Handelsblad reports. Unemployed people on benefits drive delivery vans. Drivers without valid residence papers deliver parcels. And fictitious companies are used to divert money.
80 companies examined
Over the past eighteen months, the inspectorate has examined more than eighty courier companies and subcontractors hired by the four largest parcel deliverers to deliver the parcels. The reason was reports of possible wrongdoing. According to the inspection, 36 fines were imposed over 2019 and 2020, 33 cases are still being processed.
In a response, DHL says it does not recognize itself in the findings of the inspection.
