‘Ten Hag can count on large winter sales at Manchester United’

Erik ten Hag seems to have regained some breathing space at Manchester United with a hard-fought draw at Liverpool (0-0). The manager will want to strengthen his team again in January and may receive help from a now familiar source. Casemiro has several offers in hand from Saudi Arabia, Marca reports. A departure of the injured Brazilian could provide the English superpower with a gigantic winter capital injection.
Casemiro was surprisingly acquired from Real Madrid by Manchester United in the summer of 2022. The purchase price, including bonuses, amounted to just over 70 million euros. Casemiro was immediately of enormous value to Ten Hag in his first season, but is sorely missed in the current football season.

Casemiro has been struggling with a persistent injury since the end of October, which has meant that the 31-year-old defensive midfielder has been sidelined for two months now. From the stands at Old Trafford, Casemiro had to watch as Manchester United finished ingloriously at the bottom of Group A of the Champions League, while the team descended to a disappointing seventh place in the Premier League.
Ten Hag has already announced that it wants to enter the transfer market in January. However, the manager does not have a large budget after the enormous transfer expenses of the last year and a half. Casemiro’s departure could change that.
Marca reports that there is concrete interest in the 75-time Brazilian international. Now that Saudi Arabia looks set to win the 2034 World Cup, the country is keen to add more top footballers to the national competition.
Manchester United will not be able to recoup the entire purchase price of Casemiro, but they will be able to recoup a significant portion. The midfielder, who has played 63 games for the English top club so far, is contracted until mid-2026.

Jadon Sancho is also doing well in Saudi Arabia, Marca adds. The winger is no longer used by Manchester United after he posted a harsh statement about Ten Hag and the club on his social media channels on Sunday, September 3. No less than 85 million euros was transferred to Borussia Dortmund for the 23-year-old attacker in the summer of 2021.
