Tiger King Joe Exotic, who is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence, recently accused his husband Dillon Passage of abandoning him. Passage denies that allegation in a message Instagram. He told his man to “assist in times of need”.
Joe Maldonado-Passage, as the 57-year-old Joe Exotic is really called, wrote this week a letter which said he thinks he won’t last three more months behind bars. The American also urged people to stop sending him photos of his partying 22-year-old partner and said “I don’t know if I’m still married” because he doesn’t hear anything from Passage anymore.
However, Exotic’s husband claims this is incorrect. “My heart breaks after reading Joe’s letter,” he writes. “I wrote letters to him and it is a pity to hear that he does not receive them.”
He adds, “I know that the time he can use to read is limited and I just hope my letters will eventually reach him.”
Passage does not address his partner’s allegations that he and others would benefit from him after the release of Tiger King. He does write that he loves Exotic and “stands behind him”. “Know that I fight for you every day.”
The two married in 2017, shortly after meeting each other on a karaoke night.
Tiger King is about the Exotic Zoo and its fight against animal rights activist Carolin Baskin. The series showed that he was convicted of hiring someone to murder Baskin. He was also convicted of killing and assaulting animals in his zoo full of lions and tigers.
