The mayor of Guimarães announced today that “a work team will be created” to change the Hospital Referral Network to integrate the Hemodynamics Unit of the Hospital da Senhora da Oliveira, which is not working.
“The Minister of Health is going to appoint a technical health and legal team to evaluate the functioning intended for the Hemodynamics Center of Hospital de Guimarães. This work will consist of changing the hospital referral networks as well as proposing a partnership between the Hospitals of Guimarães and Braga ”, explained Domingos Bragança at the meeting of the municipal executive this Monday.
The team will also aim to “solve the missing financing because the contributions made by the Vimaranenses through patronage correspond to about 30 to 40% of the cost of the Hemodynamics Center, the remaining 60% being financed by an agreement that cannot be classified as patronage and will have to be annulled for not having a legal framework ”.
In November 2019 it was announced that the Hospital de Guimarães has a hemodynamics laboratory [que permite o diagnóstico e tratamento invasivo de doenças cardíacas] ready to use a year and a half ago, paid for by patrons having cost around two million euros, but which was not being used due to lack of approval from the Ministry of Health.
At the time, the Regional Health Administration explained that the unit was not yet being used due to the need to “reorganize the Hospital Referral Network”, after the end of the public-private partnership with Hospital de Braga.
The Mayor highlighted the “opening” of the Ministry of Health to resolve “0 stalemate”, realizing that the Government will assume the payment of the missing amount: “We want this Hemodynamics Center to be put into operation, after the team of technicians health and legal issues to overcome the issues that delayed this process, ”he said.
According to Domingos Bragança, “there is no question of the generosity of the people of Guimarães, the problem is that there is 60% of the cost of this Center that results from a“ commercial agreement ”that does not comply with the competition rules and will have to be the Ministry of Health to assume this money ”.
The entry into operation of the new Hemodynamics laboratory will, for example, allow coronary patients in the geographical area of Hospital de Guimarães to be able to perform cardiac catheterizations and angioplasties there.
