Seven months in prison have been demanded against a 21-year-old Arnhemmer for online incitement to riots and sharing the addresses of politicians (doxing). The suspect confessed that he sent inflammatory messages during the corona crisis. In his own words, he did not know what he was doing, partly due to alcohol consumption.

Boris van W. shared inflammatory messages in groups on Telegram at the end of 2021. For example, he forwarded a list containing possible addresses of Mark Rutte and other politicians. “Everyone shares everything on Telegram,” he countered. However, he admitted in court that he should not have done this. Drugs and a gas pistol were found in his home.

‘You are crazy’

Van der W. reacted furiously to the sentence. “I was just forwarding something, you are crazy!” he shouted. The judge threatened to remove him from the room if he did not stop shouting.

Last year, the man did not show up for the substantive hearing of his case. He was also not present at the replacement hearing date, because he turned out to be stuck in Belgium. It is unclear for what.

Life on the ride

Today W. stated that he has his life back on track. He wants to start training and is receiving guidance. “Boris is now in a good place, where he receives the right guidance. A prison sentence thwarts all of that,” said W.’s lawyer.

The public prosecutor doubted whether the suspect is really doing better. That has been said many times before. According to the Public Prosecution Service, a suspended prison sentence would therefore not be proportionate.

If the judge agrees with the sentence, the man will have to go to jail for another four months; he has already been in custody for three months.
