The African Union announced, this Wednesday, August 19, the suspension of Mali after the coup d’état led by the military the day before and which forced the president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, to resign. In a message relayed on Twitter and taken up by Rfi, The 15 members of the African Union Security Council specified that this suspension will extend “until the restoration of constitutional order” in the country.
In addition, the regional organization “calls for the release of President Keïta, the Prime Minister and other members of the government forcibly detained by the army”.
