Malaysia confirms the cancellation of the premiere of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

Earlier this week, Instagram manager Adam Mosseri shared a video on Twitter (yes, the irony) to tell people that Instagram will “continue to support photos” as multiple users complained about how the platform embeds videos. random in your feeds. However, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has basically confirmed that the Instagram feed is about to get worse.

Instagram feed is getting worse

For many Instagram users, the experience of using the social network, which is mainly focused on photos of friends and family, has worsened considerably in recent months. This is because Instagram now uses algorithms to display content from sources from accounts you don’t follow, but think might be of interest to you.

And, if you think Instagram might be rethinking its strategy for the better after these complaints, you’re probably wrong. In a conference call with investors on Wednesday, Zuckerberg said that the company plans to “more than double” the amount of AI-recommended Instagram feed content. In other words, you’ll end up seeing even more posts from people and accounts you don’t know.

According to the CEO of Meta, approximately 15% of the content presented to an Instagram user in their feed consists of recommendations. By the end of next year, that number is expected to rise to more than 30%. Of course, this goes against what Instagram users have been asking for, but the company doesn’t seem to care.

Instagram should stop trying to be TikTok

The situation of Instagram is so complicated at this point that even the famous Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian made a statement asking Instagram to “stop trying to be TikTok.” Adam Mosseri then responded to the complaints with a video that essentially confirms that the company will continue to spend resources copying features from TikTok.

Of course, this move comes as TikTok has grown significantly, unlike Facebook and Instagram. Meta results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2022 it is slightly lower than expected with a turnover of 28.82 billion dollars instead of 28.94 billion dollars. The company currently has 1.97 billion daily active users, which is still a lot.

During the call, Meta executives also mentioned that the company was working on new ways to serve ads online with less user data, in response to Apple’s app tracking transparency. Earlier this year, Zuckerberg had already said that Meta has rebuilt its ad structure to target iOS users.

Meta shares have fallen more than 3% since the announcement as investors seemed disappointed with the company’s direction.
