Kozhikode: Vishnu Prasad, a Malayali, won the prestigious title of ‘Ironman’ after performing well in the Ironman Triathlon competition organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. In this competition series, which is considered as one of the most difficult one-day sports events in the world, he completed a total of 226.3 km in 17 hours, including 3.9 km swimming, 180.2 km cycle race and 42.2 km distance running.

Completion of specific individual cut-off times for each sporting event qualifies to enter the next competition. Although triathlons are held in different countries, completing an Ironman triathlon is a tough task. Only a person with great fitness, health and good will can win such a mega event. The fact that the distance in the ongoing Ironman Triathlon in India is only 113 km adds luster to Vishnu’s achievement.

Vishnu Prasad, a native of Kozhikode, has been training hard for the last five years to achieve his dream of becoming an Iron Man in 2022 in Sydney, Australia.
The half ironman competition was successfully completed. The confidence gained from this competition inspired him to participate in the ironman competition held in Australia this year and led to a magical achievement.

Vishnu’s achievement was supported by scientific sports training, gym workout, long-distance cycling, marathon, swimming and diet. Vishnu Prasad, a post graduate in construction management, is currently working as a construction estimator in a leading construction company in Australia. He is the son of Jeprasad and Vatsalakumari, who was a teacher.
