‘Modi’s beard grows; The country’s GDP is declining ‘

Shashi Tharoor likened the country’s GDP to that of a prime minister’s beard, mocking Modi’s declining beard as it grows. Tharoor shared a graph of GDP going down in the picture of Modi growing a beard.

The graph indicates the decline in the country’s GDP from the 2017-18 financial year to the second half of the 2019-20 financial year. In 2017-18, when beards were low, GDP was 8.1 per cent.
