Major research MUMC +, GGD and Province of Limburg into antibodies

From Friday 23 October, the GGD South and North Limburg, the Province of Limburg and the MUMC + will start an investigation into antibodies and the spread of the corona virus in Limburg. In this way, scientists, residents and policymakers can learn more about (the spread of) the virus.

Many people have not been tested in the first wave. Yet policymakers and scientists want to know why corona hit Limburg so hard. Policymakers are wondering how health policy and measures could possibly be improved and how we stand now when it comes to antibodies in residents of our province. What role played, for example, bringing many people together during events such as carnival, but also the duration of complaints can provide important insights. To map this out, these parties are now inviting 10,000 Limburgers, at least 18 years old, to participate in this scientific research. In this way one can gain insight into the spread of the virus.

The participants mainly receive tests to measure the antibodies, whether they are present and whether they have previously been infected with corona. Participation is voluntary and consists of an online questionnaire and an antibody blood test. For the latter, test lanes will be created, which will be created in addition to the corona test lanes. People who have always wanted to know whether they have had corona in the past now have the opportunity to have it tested. More information about the Corona Research Limburg can be found at www.ggdzl.nl/COL and www.ggdlimburgnoord.nl/COL. You can register from Friday 23 October.
