ORIGINAL STORY 11.53am: Guerrilla Games, the developer behind the highly anticipated Horizon Forbidden West, is reportedly reducing its workforce. This news comes as part of yesterday’s announcement made by Sony, revealing that a total of 900 PlayStation employees, across multiple studios and departments, will lose their jobs. This reduction corresponds to around eight percent of the total PlayStation workforce.

Dutch newspaper AD (as reported by VGC) has stated that Guerrilla Games plans to lay off 40 employees, which is approximately 10 percent of its personnel. Further comments on this matter are expected to be provided by Sony upon request from Eurogamer.

Guerrilla Games became a part of Sony in 2005, and since then, it has gained prominence for its exceptional work on the popular Horizon series. Last year, the studio released the Burning Shores expansion for Horizon Forbidden West. Additionally, the studio collaborated with Firesprite on the PS VR2 title, Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The future of the Horizon series continues to hold promising prospects, with Guerrilla confirming its plans to further develop the franchise. This includes the highly anticipated Netflix adaptation of the game, their new online project focused on cooperative gameplay, as well as a third game centered around the franchise’s protagonist, Aloy. Additionally, rumors of a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn by Guerrilla have been making rounds.

The highly anticipated Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is scheduled to be released for PC next month. This edition, which had already been made available on PlayStation in October last year, includes both the base game and the expansion pack along with various in-game items. These in-game items, obtained through the game’s progression, encompass an exclusive pose and face paint for the Photo Mode, as well as five unlockable items: the Carja Behemoth Elite outfit and Short Bow, the Nora Thunder Elite outfit and Sling, the Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike piece, and a resource pack comprising ammunition, potions, and travel packs.
