Around forty houses were victims of a major gale this Thursday, September 21, in Reims (Marne) and the surrounding area. Tiles were torn off in particular, firefighters were on site, but no injuries were reported.
Violent gusts of wind shook the town of Courcy and the Neuvillette district in Reims in the Marne this Thursday, September 21, 2023 shortly after 3 p.m. A localized gust of wind. At the end of the afternoon, the firefighters reported eight interventions in progress for falling materials. A reconnaissance was underway.
In Courcy, around ten houses were affected, according to an initial count, with damage limited to a few stolen tiles. Significant emergency resources were dispatched to the site. Drone pilots are engaged in the sector to carry out reconnaissance.

In the Neuvillette sector, damage was reported on rue Jean-Jaurès and avenue Nationale. “It lasted very little time. A big gust of wind and everything collapsed,” describes Peggy, a resident of the area whose fence was knocked down by the wind.
“We have around thirty homes which are affected by the stormy episode in the commune of Reims, La Neuvillette. These are mainly tiles which have moved, ridge lines which have been torn off, some roofs gutted”told us Captain Mickaël Frigard, from the Marne departmental fire and rescue service, dispatched to the site.

In the Courcy sector, after reconnaissance, the roofs of homes were impacted by objects threatening to fall. But around 5:45 p.m., no injuries were reported. The firefighters are covering the roofs, in conjunction with roofers.
