Majestic Jet Meeting at Nîmes Courbessac Aerodrome – A Spectacular Display of Technology and Precision

Nearly forty pilots, each in possession of two to three planes, will be at the controls during the Jet meeting organized this Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 June on the runway of the Nîmes Courbessac aerodrome.

This event, organized regularly by the Association gardoise d’aéromodélisme, just like its interclub meeting in September, will allow you to see Jet planes from 1.50m to 3.50m in wingspan at work. “This is an opportunity for us to see the improvement of technology, to take stock, to exchange between enthusiasts”enthuses already Alain Petit, president of the Association gardoise d’aéromodélisme.

Six-minute runtime

Machines that can reach incredible speeds “up to 500 km/h during one of our meetings for a French-made device”, says Alain Petit. These jets, propulsion or electric turbine planes, powered by kerosene, with a range of six minutes, are owned by experienced model aircraft pilots.

Devices that fascinate beyond Nîmes since last year, among the public, slipped a couple of Czechs, seduced by the publications of the Facebook page of the gardoise association of aeromodellingand its 2,500 followers, enriched with photos and videos by two enthusiasts: Nicolas Parede and Roland Petit.

For those who want to go beyond the discovery of model aircraft after the meeting this weekend, President Petit gives some advice: “I advise above all to contact one of the nine Gard clubs to obtain explanations, to know what to do or not, to buy as a first device. We have enough veterans in our association to avoid setbacks and the consequences of a first flight.”

Two school planes also allow the Nîmes structure to become familiar with the equipment (the first price of which is €500). The Gardoise model aircraft association has a 120 m long and 10 m wide runway and premises to bring enthusiasts together all year round.
