TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md confirmed that the former Head of the Propam Ferdy Sambo have been taken to the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, Kelapa Dua, Depok. Mahfud confirmed the news after news emerged that Ferdy was arrested for the shooting case against Brigadier J or Nofriansyah Joshua Hutabarat.
“Yes, I have received information that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was brought to the Mobile Brigade Headquarters and the Provos. It has also been circulated in various media, people are asking why did he go to the Provos? Was it only investigated for ethical violations?” he said in his Instagram account @mohmahfudmd on Saturday night, August 6, 2022.
Mahfud also explained that according to the law, ethical violations and criminal offenses can go hand in hand. The two also don’t have to wait for each other and can’t cancel each other out.
This means that if someone is sentenced to ethical sanctions, it does not mean that his criminal allegations are ruled out. Ethical violations are processed, criminal violations are processed in parallel. Mahfud gave an example of the case of former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Akil Mochtar.
“When the person concerned is detained on suspicion of corruption after being OTT (arrest operation), then without waiting for the completion of the criminal process, the ethical violation will be processed,” said Mahfud.
Even Akil, said Mahfud, was dismissed from his position as a Constitutional Court judge through ethical sanctions. So, Mahfud said that this dismissal made it easier for criminal investigations because Akil could not be “cozy” in the Constitutional Court. Then some time after the ethical sanction is imposed, then a criminal sentence is imposed.
Mahfud, who is also the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, said that criminal investigations are more complicated and take longer than ethical violations. “So the public doesn’t need to worry, solving this ethical problem will actually make it easier to accelerate the criminal investigation if there are allegations and allegations about it,” he said.

The arrests follow the identification of a suspect against Bharada Richard Eliezer last Wednesday night. The snares of the articles imposed were intentional murder and participating in assisting the crime in the death of Joshua, his colleague and fellow aide, Ferdy Sambo.
On Thursday night, Ferdy Sambo underwent an examination at the Criminal Investigation Department.
