A tremor was felt in the Charlevoix region overnight from Thursday to Friday.
An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale was indeed detected at 2:59 a.m., according to Earthquake Canada.
The epicenter was located 11 kilometers southwest of La Malbaie, very close to the St. Lawrence River, at a depth estimated at 19 kilometers.
Slight vibrations were reported, particularly in Baie-Saint-Paul.
No damage
Remember that Charlevoix is a particularly active seismic region.
The Sûreté du Québec did not report any major incident or damage with the earthquake. A quake of magnitude less than 5 is generally considered unlikely to cause damage, according to Earthquake Canada.
Almost at the same date last year, on August 8, 2019, a force 3 earthquake was recorded in Saint-Hilarion, also in Charlevoix.
