New Year’s Eve is a time of miracles. Miracles are everywhere, even magic is in the air. Only people don’t always notice it, because sometimes miracles are not visible unless you look closely at what is happening around you. On the other hand, sometimes they happen right here – in front of our eyes. For example, in a completely ordinary shopping center, New Year’s Eve is full of magic and surprises – even inanimate objects come to life!
The festive production “New Year’s action!” the creators invite viewers to linger in one such supermarket after closing and see how this small world is colored by unexpected events, romantic adventures, miracles and music!
The acting ensemble of the Chekhov Theater is accompanied on stage by a musical group: Vladimir Tuzov (keyboards), Dmitry Karpov (bass guitar, keyboards), Gidon Grinberg/Alexei Bahir (violin), Yegor Kovaikov (guitar) and Anton Vysotsky (percussion). The Riga Students’ Palace Choir “Accolada” (conductor Oksana Cherkasova) complements the sound of instruments with voices.
On the other hand, Mihails Shiryajevs has prepared a mono-performance “How to catch Santa Claus” for the smallest audience, in which he performs the duties of an actor, set designer and text author.
The most awaited holiday of the winter is approaching – very soon Riga will be lit up with festive lights, decorated Christmas trees will appear in homes, and bags full of letters describing the desired gifts will be sent to the North Pole. It is the desire to receive all the gifts in the world that inspires the show’s young hero to found a Secret Society whose goal is to catch none other than Santa Claus himself.
The boy has developed a cunning and daring plan, prepared several traps, and now he is waiting for Santa Claus. Has our hero considered and foreseen everything? Will Santa Claus not give up so easily? Or, on the contrary, will he reward the boy for his ingenuity and determination?
To join the Secret Society or to watch from the sidelines as this exciting story ends, all you have to do is go to the show! But after that, the audience is invited to a master class to create… this is what the Chekhov Theater intended as a surprise.
