Mafia II and III may receive remaster for PC and consoles – Gaming – News

Remasters of Mafia II and III may be arriving. The titles of Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition have been published on the website of the Taiwanese approval authority. A few days ago, Mafia II: Definitive Edition also appeared with a Korean inspection body.

The Gematsu website discovered the rendering of Mafia II: Definitive Edition at the Korean Game Appraisal Body; this approval is for the Nintendo Switch. According to the game website, both titles now also appear on the site of the Taiwanese inspection body; these approvals are for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The approval of the Mafia II version for the Switch may be a port of the original, but the inspections by the Taiwanese authority may indicate remasters, though not sure. To date, 2K Games has not made any official announcements yet.

Mafia III is the last game in the series and was released in October 2016 for the PC, PS4, Xbox One and in May 2017 for macOS. In this game from developer Hangar 13, the player takes on the role of a Vietnam War veteran who retaliates in a New Orleans-style city in 1968 for the murder of his ‘relatives’. Hangar 13 is also working on a new, unannounced game. Mafia II is from 2010 and was released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
