Maersk Essen already operates normally unloading in port Los Angeles

The Maersk Essen motor ship that suffered one of the main accidents in January in the Pacific Ocean losing 750 containers overboard, has finally unloaded its cargo at its original destination, the Port of Los Angeles in the USA.

The Maersk shipping company reported that the ship Maersk Essen arrived at its berth at APM Terminals Pier 400 Los Angeles on March 4 to unload the entire load.

An update on Tuesday said that several containers with inland destinations have already left by rail, while others who remained in the local area were picked up at the terminal.

On January 16, Maersk Essen lost significant number of containers overboard after experiencing severe weather while on his way from Xiamen, China to Los Angeles, California.

To avoid congestion at the Southern California port, the ship was diverted to APM Terminals in Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico, to remove damaged containers and make minor repairs to the ship.

Maersk is targeting a March 11 sailing date for Maersk Essen to return to Asia to resume its regular route.

The container ship Maersk Essen has a capacity of 13,100 TEU and sails on the weekly service TP6 Asia / US West Coast.
