Diego Simeone success brings Atletico Madrid champion LaLiga last 2020/2021 season. Simeone believes that success will make Real Madrid and Barcelona triggered.
Atletico Madrid won LaLiga last season dramatically in the last week. Comeback 2-1 over Real Valladolid ensured they won the title by just two points ahead of Real Madrid.
This result repeats the record of the 2013/2014 season, when they also stopped their dominance Barcelona–Real Madrid. For the record, in the last 17 seasons, only Atletico Madrid have been able to reduce the Barca-Madrid duopoly.
Diego Simeone want to emphasize that this more or less shows how difficult it is to surpass the two giants. He never meant to be discouraged or inferior in front of Barcelona and Real Madrid, but in reality both teams have the advantage.
