Madiun residents are asked to be diligent in carrying out PSN in anticipation of dengue fever

Madiun (ANTARA) – The Health Office of Madiun Regency, East Java, asked residents to be diligent in eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) with 3M Plus to anticipate and prevent the transmission of dengue fever, which threatens during the rainy season.

The Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Madiun District Health Office, Anies Djaka, said that dengue fever cases began to occur in Madiun Regency and increased during the rainy season.

“According to data, during January 1-5 2022, eight residents of Madiun Regency have contracted dengue fever. They are currently still undergoing treatment at the hospital,” said Anies Djaka in Madiun, Wednesday.

His party asked the residents of Madiun Regency to be intensively aware of DB, especially during the rainy season. Moreover, a number of villages in Madiun Regency are listed as endemic areas, including the villages of Klorokan, Dolopo, Mejayan, Bangunsari, and Kedungmaron.

The emergence of dengue fever cases was caused by the large pool of rainwater in the environment around the house which was not accompanied by the application of PSN 3 M. So that it had an impact on increasing the population of the “Aedes aegypti” mosquito as a vector of the dengue virus.

In order to prevent dengue fever, his party coordinates with the Puskesmas to promote mosquito nest eradication activities (PSN).

Through jumatic cadres, posyandu, and PKK, his party is also intensively conducting socialization about DB alert, diligently doing PSN, and implementing clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS).

“The main thing is of course PSN. With PSN, the mosquito cycle is automatically interrupted. For example, the eggs do not become adult mosquitoes. So, if they do not become mosquitoes, the mosquito population will automatically disappear,” he said.

Data from the Madiun District Health Office noted that the number of dengue fever sufferers during 2021 reached 117 people with one patient of whom died.
