The famous woman Madeleine Vermeulen from Heist has passed away. That confirms the family. She turned 94 years old and is known in Heist-op-den-Berg as the mother of Paul Michiels and former manager of café ‘t Pleintje.

Madeleine Vermeulen owned a café in ‘t Pleintje from 1966 to 1979, together with her husband Karel Michiels. She lived on the Bergop on the Heistse Berg, a stone’s throw from the well-known business that is now run by her grandson Yves Janssens.
In recent years her health deteriorated and she moved to the Heilige Familie residential care center on Westerlosesteenweg. There she died in the night from Sunday to Monday.
Madeleine had four children and eleven grandchildren. bepr
