Viewpoint News: According to news on August 6, Cheng Weidong, Acting Director of the Macau Tourism Office, recently revealed that the situation of tourists visiting Macau in July was satisfactory. About 78% to 80% before the epidemic, I believe that August will be better than July, because the provisional data of inbound tourists in the first three days of August has exceeded 93,000 per day.
According to the latest data released by the Macau Government Tourist Office, in the first half of 2023, the cumulative number of inbound tourists in Macau exceeded 11.645 million, with a daily average of more than 64,000, returning to 59.6% of the daily average in 2019.
Among them, there were nearly 475,000 international tourists in the first half of the year, recovering to 31.2% of the daily average for the whole year of 2019. In addition, the average occupancy rate of hotels in the first half of the year reached 80.1%, which is only 10.7 percentage points lower than the 90.8% in 2019.
The Macau Government Tourist Office stated that the second half of the year is the peak tourist season in Macau, and strives to reach 24 million visitors to Macau throughout the year.
