Lyon. The festival turns into a nightmare: hundreds of people scammed

Hundreds of people they were unable to return with their original ticket and were left with two options: buy a ticket on the spot or go home.

That evening was the big event FCKNYEa festival with more than thirty artists who had to parade on four different stages, offering 10 hours of non-stop music.

To secure seats once the ticket office is full, some have turned to Ticketswap, a secure platform. purchase and resale of tickets. Most fell on the same profile: that of a certain Anouar, who offered a seat at 58 euros instead of 65, the basic price.

“It was the cheapest, so I was happy, even though it was only 7 euros cheaper! “, testifies Maeva, who is one of the injured festival participants. It was only when she got there that she realized the deceit. “At the entrance, to scan my ticket, well it freezes. They tell me to go straight to the ticket office and that’s where they tell me I’ve been scammed and I’m not the only one. »

All scammed by the same scammer

Maeva finally resigned herself to buying a ticket on the spot at the price of 70 euros just like Julie who also fell into Anouar’s trap. They chose to file a complaint on the platform’s website.

According to a Ticketswap email sent to Maeva, Anouar sold “a significant number of tickets to this event and some of them turned out to be invalid.” The platform has responded to all complaints by explaining open an investigation.

“Refunds Are Coming”

For its part, the FKCNYE Festival, in relation to Ticketswap, ensured that the reseller’s account had not been credited and that the money had been blocked. “Refunds will come,” the organizer promises. “There was indeed a fraud attempt, but since we work with professionals, it could not have been successful. »
