The Lviv authorities decided to strengthen quarantine restrictions and increase the number of vaccinations amid the spread of the Delta coronavirus strain. This was announced on Friday, July 2, by the mayor of the city Andrei Sadovy after a meeting of the city commission of TEB and emergency situations.
According to him, the authorities are actively monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 and the new Delta strain.
“The situation is exacerbating even in countries that are actively involved in vaccination. Therefore, we are starting intensive preparations for this new strain. Today we have 2 thousand beds in our communal institutions that are ready to receive patients with coronavirus. Today we decided to raise this bar to 3 thousands, including in the children’s hospital. We turned to the head of the Ministry of Health, Viktor Lyashko, to renew the “covid” packages for medical institutions, since now only the emergency hospital has it. can change dramatically, “Sadovy said.
At a meeting of the city commission, it was also decided to strengthen (within reasonable limits) compliance with quarantine measures in food, culture and other establishments and to increase the number of vaccinations against coronavirus to 5 thousand per day.
According to the city council, as of July 2, 137,503 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Lviv and Lviv region. 3,653 people died.
Earlier at WHO named the Delta strain the most infectious of all strains of the coronavirus. It has already been identified in half the countries of the world. For example, in France 20% of COVID-19 cases constitutes the Delta strain.
