When recording for his Sat.1 show “CATCH! The European Championships in Catching ”moderator Luke Mockridge (30) contracted a muscle bundle tear in November combined with a tendon tear on the left thigh. Ouch!
And now? Cut out the accident and pretend nothing was wrong? Not with Luke Mockridge, after all, a brave entertainer knows no pain – and no sense of shame. And so the fans of the 30-year-old were able to experience the violent crash on Friday evening exactly on Sat.1.

Andrea Kaiser (37), who moderates the action spectacle together with Mockridge, remembers:
“Luke was lying on the floor next to the field, screaming. For a brief moment I thought it was fun and he was doing the Luca Toni. But then it was immediately clear that he was in really bad pain – it was a complete shock moment! “
Tomorrow there will be a real, dramatic and damn fast European Championship ?? CATCH from 20.15 in SAT1 ?????? pic.twitter.com/LY6Qbc0OHJ
At the beginning of the recording, the comedian (who was not only moderated, but also took part in the German team) had slightly injured his knee and elbow and continued playing.
Then in the fifth round the shock: Mockridge fell to the ground and lay there motionless. Employees were immediately on site and covered him with a privacy screen. But they couldn’t hide the screams. Mockridge roared in pain and was brought out of the studio by paramedics.

Andrea Kaiser: “The production stopped immediately, Luke shielded with towels and brought out of the studio – I come from motorsport, so that is never a good sign. At first we were at a loss as to how to proceed: How bad is the injury? And maybe we even have to cancel the shipment? “
After a first finding by the local doctors, it was clear: Mockridge could not continue playing. Remarkable: Instead of being driven to the hospital, Luke returned to the studio after 20 minutes to support his team. He immediately got a microphone and said to his fans in the studio: “I would like to run, but I can no longer bend my leg. Everything contracts. On a pain scale from 1 to 10 I feel at least 8. “

Andrea Kaiser admires her colleague for so much team spirit: “It was a real goosebump moment when Luke came back to the studio with the doctors on crutches. My greatest respect that with this serious injury and pain, he held out the rest of the show as a motivator for his team – probably no footballer would have done that. ”
That’s what “CATCH!” Is all about
In the show, prominent captains will start with their teams of four to play champions on spectacular obstacle areas and in unusual catching disciplines.
Presenter Andrea Kaiser raves: “‘CATCH!’ Is one of the fastest shows in the world. And I only learned from the show what real freerunners can do. This is awesome. They don’t move like people, but jump like cats – Luke has to practice a little more. ”
