It seemed that the Belgian would be a great reinforcement for Chelsea, who had triumphed in the Champions League shortly before his transfer.
The reality turned out to be quite different. Lukaku was disappointing. Throughout the season, counting all competitions, he scored 15 goals. However, he needed 44 performances for that.
His statements, in which he emphasized that he would very much like to return to Inter, also caused a lot of stir. Understandably, Chelsea fans and officials, as well as her coach, Thomas Tuchel, did not like this.
Now, however, Lukaku will most likely get his way and in fact return to Inter. For now, on a loan basis. In Milan, however, he cannot count on a warm welcome from fans.
Representatives of the Curva Nord, Inter ultras, even made a special statement.
– There will be no protests against the player, but no one should greet him with Curva scarves or flags. He will have to earn for it with humility and work. We treated him like a king, now he’s one of the crowd, although we’ll never cheer him on if he wears the Inter jersey again – written.
Lukaku played for Inter in 2019-2021. He then played in 95 matches and scored 64 goals. He added 16 assists. He left for Chelsea for 113 million euro.
