Luka Doncic settles trademark dispute with mother – Basketball

point guard”Dallas» and the Slovenian national team Luca Doncic and his mother Miriam Poterbin have settled a legal dispute over the “LUKA DONCIC 7” trademark owned by Poterbin.

According to open files on the US Patent and Trademark Office website, Doncic closed on Dec. 5 a petition he filed Sept. 6 to deregister the trademark.

Doncic agreed to use the brand in November 2018 when he was 19 years old. The brand was officially registered in January 2020.

In July 2021, the point guard sent written notice to his mother that he no longer consents to the use and registration of the brand, as he wants to develop his brand without outside participation.

In September 2021, Doncic unveiled the new “77” logo in the form of the initials “LD,” which has appeared on his Jordan brand of shoes and apparel, as well as at corporate and charity events.

Subsequently, the basketball player’s company Luka99 Inc. twice applied for the registration of the “LUKA DONCIC” trademark, but was refused due to the existing “LUKA DONCIC 7”.

Luka breaks the NBA mold: only 60-point triple-double (60+21+10), comeback from “-9” in 34 seconds and save under the siren
