Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, mayor of Monterrey, refused to seek the presidency of Mexico next year at the hands of Movimiento Ciudadano.
It was the politician Agustín Basave, who launched the question at the beginning of a forum organized at the University of Monterrey (UDEM), to Colosio Riojas.
“These are times of definition, the crossroads of elections is coming. Do you want to be a presidential candidate for MC or any other party?”
After his presentation on new generations and the new politics, at the end of the question and answer session, he explained the three reasons why he will not seek the presidential candidacy.

The first of these, he said, is that it is not the right time, since he considers that he has been a public servant for a short time and lacks maturity both in the workplace and in his person.
“There is no team that can really take on a responsibility of that size, with whom I can plan a good political project and, above all, a technical one, and finally, that it is a moment in which I have that trust from the people socially,” he added.
Secondly, he pointed out that he would not want to be the one to divide an opposition that has genuine intentions of changing the course of the country.

“I am not going to get into these fights, I respect the Citizen Movement a lot, but I am not going to be the architect of the division of an opposition.”
And finally, he explained that the third reason is his family, “my children are small, they are my whole world and they need a father and it is time to be with my children.”
