Who were the other Colombians in England?
Throughout the history of the Premier League, a total of 15 “coffee” players have played with different teams in England, some even with some of the most powerful teams in the country.
The first Colombian to play in England was Faustino Asprilla. ‘El Tino’ played for Newcastle for two seasons between 1995 and 1997. With the ‘Urracas’ team, the striker played a total of 48 games and scored 18 goals. His most remembered feat was scoring a hattrick (3 goals) against Barcelona in the ’97 Champions League.
Hamilton Ricard was the second Colombian to arrive on British soil. During 1997 and 2001 he played a total of 132 games for Middlesbrough, with which he scored 43 goals.
One of the most successful players in the ‘coffee-growing’ country in the Premier League was striker JJuan Pablo Angel. He came from River Plate to Aston Villa, where he was between 2001 and 2007, playing a total of 205 games and scoring 72 goals.

Colombians who currently play in the Premier
Dávinson Sánchez arrived at Tottenham in 2017, and continues to be a part of the ‘Spurs’ roster. Since his arrival from Ajax, the Colombian central defender has played a total of 171 games and scored 5 goals.
Yerry Mina, Dávinson’s teammate behind the Colombian National Team, arrived at Everton andIn 2018 from Barcelona after being a figure in the World Cup in Russia. With the ‘Toffees’, the one from Guachené has played 83 games and scored six goals.
Juan Camilo Hernández was bought by Watford in 2017, but only until the 2021-2022 season did he make his official debut with the ‘Hornets’. In the current campaign, ‘El Cucho’ has played 14 games, where he has scored two goals and given two assists.
