VIENNA (awp international) – The Lufthansa subsidiary Austrian Airlines (AUA) has extended its flight break until June 7th. Due to the global travel restrictions resulting from the corona pandemic, the demand for air travel is still low. “Austrian Airlines has therefore decided to postpone regular flight operations by at least one more week, from May 31 to June 7,” the company said on Thursday.
The AUA ceased its scheduled flight operations on March 19 and has since taken off only for special flights. The airline has now applied for 767 million euros in state aid in Austria. If the company survives the corona crisis, the company is also likely to shrink significantly./nif/DP/men
