Lucie Výborná about the trip to the South Pole: You only go uphill slowly

The popular presenter Lucie Výborná (54) went to the South Pole and spoke about her experience with Jan Kraus. She also brought him an unexpected souvenir. Why didn’t she finish her journey in the end?

Right after sitting on the sofa in the Jan Kraus Show, Lucie Výborná revealed that she is a “kinetic type”, meaning that she needs to move and sitting alone is a problem for her. That is why the radio format suits her. “I like radio the most in the world,” she said. “Because I need a lot of movement, so that’s great in radio because you only have to shadow the microphone, but you can do whatever you want with your body.”

Nevertheless, she has now taken the path of a television talk show. Facing challenges and seeking adventure is her nature. For example, during the various travel expeditions he undertakes. Last time to the South Pole. “I followed the Messner route to the South Pole,” she recalled. “The plane lands you at the edge of the ocean, and then you have a thousand kilometers to the pole. Now the plane takes off, you stand up, you turn three hundred and sixty degrees around, and there’s nothing there.”

The unfinished journey to the South Pole

She prepared for this physically very demanding expedition, during which one pulls a 100-kilo sled, for a long time and honestly. “You take a sled and you have a thousand kilometers of complete peace in front of you,” she explained to the presenter what “program” awaits travelers in Antarctica. “It’s not just a plain. At the ocean, you are plus or minus at point zero, and the pole is at an altitude of 2,800 meters above sea level, so you are slowly going uphill all the time,” she refuted the old idea. In the end, however, due to health problems, she managed to walk only half of the way.

Not having children was not the plan. All days are not over yet, says Markéta Pekarová Adamová

However, she still brought the presenter a souvenir from her trip – a special set of hygiene aids. However, if she managed to reach her destination, she would arrive at the American Amundsen-Scott polar station, which is located right on the pole. “It’s such a big box, a really ugly thing. And behind that box is the so-called ceremonial South Pole. There is such a beautiful crystal ball, where those who get there take pictures,” Lucie Výborná described. If everything went well and she completed the trip as planned, it would take about 50 days in total. “We planned supplies with a reserve for some 54 days,” she continued, assuring the moderator that there was indeed enough food for one day and that it was very tasty compared to before. You just have to cook it yourself. But even that is not a problem, because it is a dried food that is simply poured with hot water.
