There is a love letter from the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Sukarnoto his wife in Japan, Ratna Sari Dewi, which contains his confession about G30S/PKI. Bung Karno admitted that he did not know about the incident.
“In the letter, which cannot be held, can only be read, one of them, from the bottom of his heart, Bung Karno stated that he did not know anything about the G30S/PKI, ‘I don’t know, suddenly I was invited to the Crocodile Hole area and then shifted to where’. as if to give the impression that he was involved,” said the Minister for Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform, Abdullah Azwar Anasquoting an excerpt from Bung Karno’s letter to Ratna Sari Dewi, reported by Antara, Friday (17/11/2023).
He revealed that the letter was the latest one collected by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) and had just been discovered from Tokyo. The letter is one of 300 archives collected by ANRI.
“From Bung Karno’s deepest heart. Bung Karno felt he didn’t know anything about the G30S/PKI incident. That’s from us reading the letter, this is fresh,” said Abdullah Azwar Anas.
Until now, ANRI is still trying to bring the letter from Japan to Indonesia. The letter is at Ratna Sari Dewi’s residence in Tokyo. The archive was relatively recently opened and was neatly kept by Ratna Sari Dewi, Bung Karno’s sixth wife.
“(The archives) are already in Indonesia but the originals are still there (Japan). Later, slowly we will also bring the originals,” said Head of ANRI Imam Gunarto on the sidelines of the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform’s Electronic Government System Agenda in Denpasar.
ANRI, he continued, has coordinated with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo, Japan to monitor and continue the historic archive.
