The aircraft fell in the Gletscherspitze region. Contacted by Keystone-ATS, the Valais police were unable to comment on possible victims. Relief operations continued into the early afternoon. The aircraft caught fire, requiring the intervention of firefighters. Apart from the cantonal police and the fire service, Air Zermatt and the Swiss Security Investigation Service (SESE) were mobilized, as the spokesman for the cantonal police indicated. The scene of the tragedy is located in the Gletscherspitze sector, a peak which rises to 3000 meters above the municipality of Blatten.
