Funny observation.
Foreign surnames seem beautiful and harmonious only at first glance. It is better not to find out the meaning of many of them, so as not to be disappointed. Although you can treat the situation with a healthy dose of irony and laugh at how what is indicated in the passports of Hollywood stars is translated into Russian.
For example, Emily Blunt sounds noble and sophisticated, but definitely not for her compatriots. And all because in translation from English the word “blunt” means “stupid”. It follows from this that in Russia her name would be no other than Tupova.
Ryan Gosling was a little luckier. His last name translates to “gosling.” But Russians may call Sophie Turner Sophie Tokareva. Her last name means “turner”.
Sandra Bullock, too, if she lived in Russia, would not be able to boast of an elegant surname. Bullock translates as “bull”: it turns out she would be Bykova.
