Los Blancos Stuck Goalless at Home

Madrid

Real Madrid stuck at home to 0-0 when facing Real Betis. This result made El Real fail to displace Atletico Madrid from the top of the standings LaLiga.

Madrid host Real Betis at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in Week 33 of LaLiga, Sunday (25/4/2021) early morning Western Indonesian Time. Los Blancos appeared dominant in this match.

They recorded ball possession of 57.7 percent compared to Betis’ 42.3 percent. Madrid also spread many threats against Claudio Bravo.

Madrid attempted 17 shots with 5 on target. Meanwhile, Betis only made 2 shots on goal from 6 attempted shots.

All of Madrid’s efforts did not result in a goal until the match was complete. This draw clearly hampered the pace of Madrid in competing for the LaLiga title.

Zinedine Zidane’s troops stuck in second place with 71 points. They are three points ahead of Barcelona in third place and two points behind Atletico Madrid at the top of the standings.

The course of the match

Madrid tried to appear pressing at the start of the match. However, they penetrated the solid Betis defense.

Los Blancos even just recorded their first shoot on target in the 25th minute. Controlling the ball well in the penalty box, Karim Benzema kicked off horizontally. This effort can still be secured by Claudio Bravo.

Betis often reduce the tempo every time they hold the ball in order to reduce Madrid. El Real is often carried away with this Betis style of play.

It was a slow game. Lack of chances in the first half, the score remains 0-0.

After the break, Rodrygo almost scored a beautiful goal for Madrid in the 55th minute. The Brazilian player opened fire from the right side of the Betis defense.

The ball, which was like a cross, headed towards Betis’ goal without being able to reach Bravo. Madrid failed to score because the ball still hit the crossbar

Calf threatened back five minutes later. Guido Rodriguez managed to escape from the crowd of Madrid players. Unattended, his shot was weak so that Thibaut Courtois could easily secure him.

Betis had a golden opportunity in the 64th minute. With a quick counter-attack, Sergio Canales sent a cross to Borja Iglesias who was not guarded in front of goal.

Courtois was quick to anticipate this threat by quickly escaping to close Iglesias’ shooting space. The attempt is successful with the ball being able to secure it.

The match began to be interesting entering the middle of the second half. Mutual attack occurred.

In the 67th minute, Casemiro tries from outside the penalty area. However, Bravo was able to appear primed to ward off the ball.

Bravo’s neat appearance thwarted Madrid’s efforts again in the 75th minute. He can secure Vinicius’ shot who takes action solo-run from the middle of the field.

Madrid locked up the Betis defense for the remainder of the match. However, their efforts to chase goals yielded no results. Score 0-0 to close the match.
