Los Angeles Auto Show 2021:

(Elbil24): The car show in Los Angeles starts today. The news is starting to pop out, and Porsche is among those who are more than happy to take the opportunity.

This year, they have, among other things, brought with them a completely new version of the Porshe Taycan, and it’s not just a matter of an equipment version.

The Porsche Taycan GTS is, firstly, the version of the model that gets the longest range. It also comes in a new body version, and it gets equipment that has not previously been found in the Taycan range.

That Porsche has chosen to come with a GTS version, however, does not come as a bomb, as this is a model name the brand has brought with it since most models since 1963. And it fits like a glove on Taycan, maybe as much as the Turbo and Turbo S. GTS edition thus ends up between today’s Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo in the model range.

As I said, there will be two versions of the Taycan GTS, either as Taycan in the traditional Coupé form, or in the new body version that Porsche calls Sport Turismo. With regard to the latter, it must be allowed to draw a strong parallel to Cross Turismo, which is exactly the same if you pick off black screen arches and other things that are meant to give a slightly more off-road feel, as Cross Turimo is meant to have.

Confused?

Porsche thus has a body version called Cross Turismo from before, and now comes the GTS. GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport, so if you choose a Sport Turismo – what someone might call the station wagon – you have always bought yourself a Porsche Taycan Gran Tursimo Sport Sport Turismo, if we are to say it all in full.

For Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo have the same body shape, but the latter is meant to be the exact opposite of off-road, something the former can be used for. Sport Turismo therefore does not have a “Gravel Mode” driving program, as Gran Turismo has. On the other hand, it has a setup of adaptive air springs, and the option of four-wheel steering that is more sporty set up than on the other models.

The Taycan GTS has also been given the option of electronic sports sound, but here the sound has a different characteristic than on the other models, mostly to emphasize that it is a GTS version.

Powerful but kind

Porsche also reports that the GTS version will have a range according to the WLTP standard of 504 kilometers, ie over 50 miles. Of course, this requires that you only use a fraction of the 598 horsepower the car can offer when Overboost is activated, and that you stay far away from testing the acceleration, which according to the specifications should push the car up to the 100 mark of only 3.7 seconds. Here, too, there are no restrictions on top speed, so it first stops at the almost mandatory 250 km / h, regardless of whether you choose the Coupé or Sport Turismo version.

Along with the GTS version, Porsche has also launched a number of new details, such as a dazzling panoramic glass roof, which has an electrically adjustable liquid crystal film that can dim how much sunlight should let through. The roof is divided into nine different zones that can be adjusted individually, and Porsche believes this is the first time the technology is used in the car industry.

Inside, you can also get the car with a number of new details, including a Race-Tex interior, where parts of the dashboard, center console and seats are upholstered with a fabric that is very similar to the Alcantara. Same with the roof and steering wheel.

Soon in place

A Porsche Taycan GTS will cost you from NOK 1,189,900 kroner, and if you choose a Taycan GTS Sport Turismo, you must add an additional 9,000 kroner. These are of course from-prices, where most people opt for equipment for a good chunk of money as well. That Porsche chooses to show the car with this red color is not strange. It has gradually become a kind of tradition for GTS models. And it suits the color well, especially with the all-black rims and other details in black. Note, however, the skirting board, which has a chrome-plated strip with GTS emblems on it.

Should you become a jerk, then just order, and then lubricate yourself with a little patience. The first cars will arrive in the country during the spring, a waiting time that will be deleted is not long compared to other cars in today’s market.
