Loris Karius leaves Liverpool

Liverpool

Loris Karius officially parted with Liverpool. The German goalkeeper’s contract at Anfield expires this month.

Liverpool announced the list of players released this summer, Thursday (9/6/2022). There are seven names that no longer strengthen The Reds at the senior and academy levels.

Karius is included in the list of players released by Liverpool. The 28-year goalkeeper’s contract expires on 30 June 2022 and the Red Merseyside has not extended his tenure.

This decision marks the end of a seven-year career Loris Karius from Liverpool. He was signed from Mainz 05 in 2015 and was a first-choice goalkeeper The Reds in 2018.

Karius became a prisoner at Liverpool after the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid. He made two fatal blunders that caused his team to lose 1-3.

The 2018 Champions League Final was Karius’ last match in an official competition with Liverpool. The former Manchester City junior player was then loaned out to Besiktas in 2018-2020, as well as Union Berlin (2020-2021).

Karius returned to Liverpool after his loan at Union Berlin ended. He did not play once during the 2021/2022 calendar.

Karius has played 49 times in all competitions for Liverpool. He kept 22 clean sheets and conceded 44 times.

So far it is not known where Karius landed after leaving Anfield. Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp, hopes Karius can be successful in the future.

“Loris? I only wish him the best. He will find a new club, either now or in the summer. From there he will continue to progress, I’m very sure,” Klopp said of Loris Karius in early 2022.
