Looking at Fuel Prices in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore All

KOMPAS.com – The government through Pertamina ensures that it has adjusted the price of fuel oil (BBM) non-subsidized starting Sunday (10/7/2022).

The adjustment or increase in non-subsidized fuel rates in Indonesia was caused by soaring Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) oil prices.

It is noted that the ICP oil price as of June touched 117.62 US dollars per barrel, which was 37 percent higher than the ICP price in January 2022.

Then, how much fuel prices in some nearby countries in Indonesia?

It is known, BMM consumption in Thailand has increased compared to 2021.

The Energy Business Department said the increase reached 13.9 percent or about 153 million liters per day in the first two months of 2022.

Fuel prices in Thailand as quoted from Shell.co as of Wednesday (13/7/2022), namely:

  • Gasoline E20: 38.94 baht or around IDR 16,109 per liter
  • Gasoline RON 91: 39.78 baht or around IDR 16,457 per liter
  • Gasoline RON 95: 40.05 baht or around Rp. 16,569 per liter.

In addition, fuel prices are also routinely announced by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), a kind of Ministry of Home Affairs in Indonesia.

  • Gasoline RON 95: 2.05 ringgit or around Rp. 6,765 per liter.
  • Gasoline RON Diesel Euro 5 (Maingrade): 2.15 ringgit or around IDR 7,272
  • Petrol RON Diesel Euro 5 B7: 2.35 ringgit or around Rp. 7,949

Compared to the price of fuel in other countries, including Indonesia, the price of fuel in Malaysia is cheaper.

This is because of the subsidy given by the Malaysian Government for its fuel products.

Fuel Prices in Singapore

Reported from Kompas.com(31/3/2022), Singapore uniformed fuel prices to 3 Singapore dollars (Rp 31,839) per liter due to the increase in world crude oil prices since March 2022.

Still from the same source, here are the fuel prices in Singapore as of July 13, 2022:

  • Gasoline RON 95: 3.15 Singapore dollars or around Rp. 33,604 per liter.
  • Gasoline RON 98: 3.64 Singapore dollars or around Rp. 38,831 per liter

From this price, the price of fuel in Singapore is twice as expensive as the estimated price of Pertamax fuel in Indonesia.

Quoted from InquirerTuesday (12/7/2022), the oil company said that the price of gasoline and diesel in the country experienced a massive price decline as of July 5, 2022.

Various factors are considered in setting domestic fuel prices, including import costs that account for more than half the pump price, as well as taxes and industry profit margins.

According to the Department of Energy’s price monitoring, the following is a breakdown of gasoline prices in the Philippines.

  • Gasoline: 76.45 pesos to 96.15 pesos or around Rp. 20,384 per liter to Rp. 25,637 per liter.

Diesel has caught up with and, at some point, outpaced the selling price of gasoline as it retails for 81.20 pesos to 95 pesos per liter.

Meanwhile, kerosene is sold for 86.80 pesos to 95.74 pesos per liter.
