LOOK INSIDE. Sicilian castle from ‘The Godfather’ is for sale for 6 million euros | showbiz

Piazza Agostino Pennis, that is the official name of the impressive Sicilian estate that just came on the market. The castle is located in the town of Acireale in the province of Catania and is well hidden on a long boulevard. The 43,055 square meter residence dates back to 1800 and was built in neo-Gothic style for the noble Pennisi family. The castle was designed by Giuseppe Patricolo, an architect best known for restoring medieval buildings in his native city of Palermo.

Fortunately for the next owner, the castle always stood the test of time, surviving both the devastating earthquake of 1908 in Messina and several heavy bombings during the Second World War. The castle still retains much of its original grandeur: visitors are welcomed by a double row of palm trees, there are massive marble staircases and neo-Gothic arches and vaults. In addition, there is a private chapel with authentic frescoes, a large library, a wine cellar and a separate house for the caretaker. The immense grounds are also a great asset: the estate is surrounded by a park that covers more than two hectares and is adorned by countless trees and flowers.
